Day 3: St Peter Port, Guernsey

Guernsey’s main town, St Peter Port retains its 17th century charm, its streets and buildings a captivating blend of Georgian and Regency styles with a French twist. Built into a steep valley leading down to the harbour, there are spectacular views across to Alderney and the other Channel Islands. Shoppers on the lookout for electronic equipment, jewellery and perfume will find them here at low-duty prices.

Day 5: La Coruna, Spain

This lively, vibrant Spanish city bordered by mountains and sitting beside the Nervion River, is home to many tourist attractions. The world-famous Guggenheim Museum is a magnet for visitors, while the cosmopolitan resort of San Sebastian is within easy reach.

Day 7: La Rochelle, France

On the western coast of France, La Rochelle is a delightful old Atlantic seaport, the entrance to which is protected by two imposing 14th century towers. There are many fine buildings in the main shopping streets, and near the harbour you will find the popular aquarium.
