Itinerary

Day 1: UK/Vienna

Depart 01:00

Fly from the UK to Vienna before transferring to the MV Serenade I.

Day 2: Vienna

Today you are free to make your own discoveries in beautiful Vienna or join the optional city tour. You may also wish to visit the elegant Schonbrunn Palace on our optional excursion. Fittingly for this musical city, a concert featuring the works of Strauss and Mozart will be included this evening.

Day 3: Durnstein/Melk

Arrive 08:30 – Depart 15:00

This charming Austrian town is situated at the beginning of the Wachau stretch of the Danube. English king Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned and escaped from the castle overlooking the town. Enjoy time at leisure to make your own discoveries, perhaps enjoy a stroll in the pedestrianised main street, Hauptstrasse or make a visit to the former Augustinian monastry, Stiftskirche. Alternatively, join the optional walking tour to gain some knowledge of this walled town.

In the afternoon we sail to Melk, arriving early evening. After dinner we welcome on board a local classical musician(s).

Day 4: Melk

Arrive 18:00 – Depart 14:00

This morning we have arranged an optional tour of the remarkable 18th century abbey. One of the finest Baroque monasteries in Europe, its wonderful yellow and white façade, opulent gold pulpit, delicate frescoes and ornate gilding remain untouched by the years.

Day 5: Passau

Arrive 06:30 – Depart 17:00

We arrive in Passau today, where the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers meet. You are free to make your own discoveries in this delightful town which is home to the 14th century cathedral of St Stephen and the world’s biggest church organ. Alternatively join us for an optional walking tour of the town.

Day 6: Regensburg

Arrive 09:00 – Depart 13:30

Enjoy an optional tour of Regensburg, a beautifully preserved and UNESCO-listed medieval city. There will be the opportunity to join a tour of the medieval city, taking in the gothic cathedral, the lush botanical gardens, the Adler Apotheke and the 12th century Stone Bridge. Alternatively, join our optional excursion to Weltenburg Abbey, the oldest abbey in Bavaria.

Day 7: Nuremburg

Arrive 08:30

The historic city of Nuremberg is yours to discover this morning. Why not join your Tour Manager for a sightseeing tour of the highlights, including the Gothic Our Lady’s Church and the wellpreserved medieval town walls. During the afternoon explore the antique shops or maybe visit one of the town’s breweries to sample the beer.

Day 8: Nuremburg/UK

Your cruise comes to an end today and you will transfer to Munich airport for your flight to the UK.

Please note: At certain times of the year, and depending on the level of the river, access to the deck may be restricted as the boat passes under bridges. This is purely for safety reasons. You can of course still enjoy the views from the lounge or your cabin. While the boat is in port, you will always have access to the deck.
