New York voted 'most desirable destination'

24th Apr 2012 by Page & Moy

New York has been voted the most desirable destination to visit this year in a survey of 2,000 British travellers.

Long-haul trips seem to be appealing to holidaymakers from the UK at present, with Sydney, Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro all ranked among the five most popular locations, along with Amsterdam.

Rome, San Francisco and Barcelona also featured in the top ten.

The poll was commissioned by accommodation website WhereToSleep.co.uk, whose director Radek Dobrolecki said: "Hopping over the pond to New York for either a long or short trip is a favourite of Brits. But the real surprise is the number of UK travellers looking to head to Sydney.

"Even the weakness of the pound against the Australian dollar is not stopping Brits longing for the sought-after beaches and sunnier climes that Sydney has to offer."
