North Atlantic Ocean cruises
So many wonderful places lie on the shores of the closest ocean to home. On this side of the Pond are La Rochelle and Bordeaux's winelands in France; Porto, Lisbon and the Algarve in Portugal; and medieval Spanish ports such as Cadiz.
Over the Med into North Africa are Morocco and Tunisia, their minarets and souks a colourful contrast to Europe. The Canary Islands, Madeira and, even further west, the Azores, were once popular stop-offs for sailors heading for the New World, but now attract those seeking year-round sun and relaxation.
Of course, the other side of the Atlantic is no longer the end of the earth. The US East Coast features New York's shopping and sightseeing, Boston's history and Florida's art deco architecture. Then there's Canada's easy charm, the white sand beaches of the Caribbean, Mexico's ancient Mayan and Aztec civilisations, and the amazing jungles and birdlife of central America.
