Rhine cruises

The mighty Rhine begins its journey high in the Alps, passing beautiful green countryside, fairytyale castles and charming medieval towns in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, France and Holland before emptying into the North Sea at Amsterdam.

For landscape-lovers the main attraction is the Rhine Gorge and the Lorelei Rock, where, according to legend, a beautiful blonde maiden lures boatmen onto the rocks with her siren songs. The first river cruisers in the 19th century were attracted by mysterious legends such as these as well as the stunning scenery, and you'll find both in abundance along the river.

The towns and cities studded along the shore are every bit as impressive, and its no co-incidence that there is so much to see. Cologne, Bonn, Strasbourg and Basel all prospered thanks to the trading opportunities presented by the river, and many of the stunning cathedrals and public buildings you see today were made possible by this wealth.
